Caramel Crunch Bars Recipe
Ingredients:
-
1 cup butter (melted)
-
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
-
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
-
2 cups rice krispies cereal
-
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1 cup caramel bits (or caramel sauce if you can’t find bits)
-
2 tbsp heavy cream (for the caramel)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Pan:
-
Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it for easy removal later.
-
-
Make the Base:
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
-
Add the graham cracker crumbs and rice krispies. Stir everything together until well combined.
-
-
Press into the Pan:
-
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Press it firmly into the bottom of the pan to form a solid, even layer.
-
-
Make the Caramel Layer:
-
In a saucepan over low heat, melt the caramel bits and heavy cream together. Stir constantly until smooth and creamy.
-
Once melted, pour the caramel over the graham cracker and rice krispie base, spreading it evenly across the surface.
-
-
Add the Chocolate:
-
In the same saucepan or a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips. You can melt them on the stove over low heat or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
-
Drizzle the melted chocolate over the caramel layer. Spread it evenly with a spatula.
-
-
Chill and Set:
-
Place the pan in the fridge for about 1-2 hours to allow everything to set and firm up.
-
Once firm, remove from the fridge and cut into bars.
-
-
Serve & Enjoy:
-
Enjoy these sweet, crunchy bars that are a perfect mix of caramel, chocolate, and crunch!
-
Tips:
-
For an extra crunch, you can mix in chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts) with the rice krispies.
-
If you want a thicker caramel layer, use more caramel bits or a thicker caramel sauce.
-
Store any leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
Let me know how they turn out! These are perfect for when you need something sweet but don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen. 😄
