5-Ingredient No-Bake Crunch Bars
Ingredients:
-
2 cups rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies)
-
1 cup smooth peanut butter (or almond butter for a different twist)
-
1 cup chocolate chips (milk or dark chocolate, depending on preference)
-
1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup for a vegan version)
-
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions:
-
Prepare a Pan: Line an 8×8-inch (or similar-sized) square baking dish with parchment paper. This will make it easy to remove the crunch bars once they’re set.
-
Melt the Peanut Butter and Honey: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the peanut butter and honey. Stir occasionally until the mixture is smooth and well combined. If you want to add the vanilla extract, stir it in at this stage.
-
Add the Rice Cereal: Once the peanut butter and honey mixture is smooth and melted, pour it over the rice cereal in a large bowl. Stir gently to coat the cereal evenly. Make sure all the cereal is coated with the peanut butter mixture, but don’t crush the cereal.
-
Melt the Chocolate: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, heat the chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted. You can also melt the chocolate on the stovetop using a double boiler method.
-
Combine Chocolate and Cereal Mixture: Pour the melted chocolate over the rice cereal mixture and gently stir until everything is evenly coated.
-
Press into Pan: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula to press it firmly into an even layer. This will help the bars hold together once they set.
-
Chill and Set: Place the dish in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours (or until the bars are firm and set). You can speed up the process by placing them in the freezer for 30-45 minutes.
-
Cut and Serve: Once the bars are set, remove them from the pan using the parchment paper, then cut them into squares or rectangles. Enjoy!
Tips:
-
Substitute for Peanut Butter: If you’re allergic to peanuts or prefer a different flavor, you can swap the peanut butter for almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter.
-
Add-ins: Feel free to mix in some extras like mini marshmallows, dried fruit, or chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.
-
Sweetness: Adjust the honey to your taste. If you like it sweeter, add a little more honey or maple syrup.
These no-bake crunch bars are quick to make, customizable, and a perfect snack or treat when you need something sweet and satisfying! Enjoy!
