Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich Recipe
Ingredients:
-
2 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or any kind you prefer)
-
2-3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or a mix—gruyère or mozzarella are great options too)
-
1-2 tablespoons of butter (or garlic butter for extra flavor)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the bread:
Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. If you’re using garlic butter, just spread it on like regular butter! -
Assemble the sandwich:
Place the cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, so the buttered sides are facing out. Make sure to layer the cheese evenly for melty goodness. -
Heat the skillet:
Place a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Let it get nice and hot, but not smoking! -
Cook the sandwich:
Once the pan is hot, carefully place the sandwich on it. Grill for about 3-4 minutes on one side, or until golden brown and crispy. -
Flip and finish cooking:
Gently flip the sandwich over and grill the other side for another 2-3 minutes until it’s golden and the cheese is melted. -
Serve:
Remove from the pan, slice, and serve immediately. You can pair it with some tomato soup for the ultimate comfort meal!
Pro Tips:
-
For extra melty cheese, you can cover the pan with a lid for the last minute or two of cooking.
-
Experiment with different cheeses—mixing sharp cheddar with mozzarella or havarti can give you a rich, creamy melt.
